The condition is called polymelia – it is when a person is born with more limbs than usual (the usual, in case you’ve forgotten, is four). The condition can result from twins becoming fused together in the womb – one survives and the non-surviving twin’s limbs are attached to the living twin. This condition is further called ischiopagus. Other times, the body axis becomes distorted and the child can grow extra legs.

Contrary to popular belief, sports injuries are not the only thing that can cause the need for knee surgery. You hear people, when they’re particularly nervous or frightened, refer to being “knock-kneed.” I always thought that term meant that you were so scared that your knees knocked together ala Ichabod Crane in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. With some research on the lovely internet, I found that it is, in fact, a real knee disorder that can be fixed with surgery.
